The Royal Ascot tie

Introduction

Ascot Ties, Ascots by Forzieri

An ascot tie, or ascot, is traditionally a narrow neckband with wide pointed wings, made of pale grey patterned silk.

It is simply a man's broad silk necktie. This wide, formal tie is usually patterned, folded over and fastened with a stickpin or tie tack. It is usually reserved for ultra-formal daytime weddings and special occasions like Royal Ascot and is worn with a cutaway coat and striped grey trousers.

Ascot ties are descended from the cravat. It became a separate entity sometime in the 1880s, when upper-middle-class European men began to wear it on formal morning (i.e. daytime) occasions. One of these events, the Royal Ascot race meeting at the Ascot Racecourse, gave the ascot its name. The ascot was also commonly worn for business in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the United States, "ascot" is another name for a cravat.

A cravat is the neckband that was the forerunner of the modern tailored necktie. The modern form of the cravat originated in the 1630s.

The variation in designs and patterns now include life belt design in ornamental pure silk - which is an original pattern recalling paisley designs yet actually created by small life belts. This could be ideal for sea lovers that need to add an ornamental and extravagant touch to their formal attire.

Other design include the Dutch blue paisley twill in silk, waterfowl navy blue twill silk, red seeds in woven silk, polkadots in silk which is absolutely chic with it's polkadot pattern staying true to the elegance and style that traditional Royal Ascot demands.

The mini paisley pattern pure silk Ascot tie is a mini paisley pattern in pure silk for a touch of refinement in formal or elegant occasions.
